Hi,
My JVC movie camera records as .MOD files. I would like to convert them to a file able to be watched on in Quicktime and syncronised to AppleTV via itunes.
I am having trouble finding out the best way to do this. Assistance would be appreciated.

divx crashing ...
when i am watching a streaming movie with a web based divx player on safari or firefox and i change my energy saver settings , the screen goes black and i need to force quit. i cant even see the force quit window, but i know to just hit enter. It sounds a little petty but it is irritating, if the the display goes to sleep while watching the movie the same thing happens. obviously i should just change the setting before i press play but i usually forget. is this a known bug and can somebody please try to see if it does it on your system to? try a site like divxstage.net, press play on a movie then go into your energy saver settings, adjust the display setting and close the window and see what happens!
if this is an actual bug how would i report it to Apple??

Quicktime crashing windows while ...
Recently, after the new update, windows started crashing anytime I accessed a folder. I can view and access folders for a few seconds before I get a message telling me windows needs to restart. I looked up the event viewer a while back and noticed it was qtcf.dll that was faulting. I tried upgrading to a new version of quicktime only to see that explorer.exe had taken qtcf.dll's place as the fault. I uninstalled quicktime a second time and got no errors, then reinstalled it to find it was in fact quicktime related. help?

I just purchased Quicktime Pro so that I can use it with my new Nano (the one that shoots video). I want to grab a frame from the video and create a still image (in jpeg format). I should be able to do it, but when I try, I get an error 11005 (or something like that). Anyone know any way to fix this? Thanks!

All Quicktime videos are now not ...
Up until yesterday, all of my quicktime files and movies that i could view in itunes, including trailers in the intunes store were working fine. Now for some reason, the audio in any of the above mentioned files works, but the video is now random fuzzy images of what appears to be my start menu on my windows xp operating system. i have reinstalled the most recent version of quicktime, and i have run a virus scan and have turned up nothing. this occurs for any file that requires quicktime. again, the video appears to be fuzzy images of my start menu. the images are almost like looking at a tv thats trying to play an atari that has not had the dust blown out of the game cartridge. i know thats a crazy way to describe it but thats exactly what it looks like. I have a lot of movies on my itunes library, and not one of them works. please help!

QuickTime accidentally deleted...help! ...
Hi this is Julie and I'm an average to good computer user dealing with the techy stuff (so be patient with me whoever is kind enough to reply!). My kid accidentally deleted the Quick Time and this bogus Apple download is not working. BTW, when I tried to access my ITunes, it says to uninstall ITunes first...Yikes...I have over 4,000 tunes! Will uninstalling the ITunes delete all these tunes? If so, is there a way to avoid this? (Maybe that's why the Quicktime from Apple isn't working?) Anyway, some kind soul help a damsel in distress! ;-(

Can't get Streaming Video ...
So.....I have the newest version of Quicktime loaded. At the Apple Test page it says I have successfully downloaded Quicktime. The logo is there. What's not there is the animated logo that apparently I should also see. Obviously this is why I can't see streaming live video in Quicktime.

Problem after downloading 7.6.4 ...
I downloaded QuickTime 7.6.4 (and iTunes 9), and now I am experiencing several problems.
When I visit http://www.apple.com/ca/ipodnano/ and try to "watch videos shot on the new iPod nano", a message shows up saying that QuickTime is required, and links to the download page. Re-downloading it (uninstall and reinstall, or repair)does not fix the problem.
Also, when some sites are visited, a message pops up saying I need a QuickTime plugin. After completing the installation process, it says
"A newer version of QuickTime is already installed. This installation can not proceed while the newer version of QuickTime is installed.", and closes the installation window.
I am using Google Chrome, but have tried Safari, and the same problems occur.

Aspect Ratio and file extension ...
Using the AC_Quicktime.js:
If I have a .mov file and change the extension to .tst or something ambiguous quicktime can still play the movie. If however I put the parameter "scale","aspect" quicktime seems to no longer be able to tell that this is a .mov file.
Any thoughts? Is there another parameter I need to use to make it work, or will I need the proper file extensions to play a movie in aspect mode?

Apple Application Support. ...
OK, so others have had this problem, but it's crazy. I had the latest version of QT (can't remember which it was) and suddenly keep getting this request to install Apple Application Support. Can't see how to do that. Uninstall QT and try to install older version but can't because it says I already have a newer version. But I don't have ANY versions at all now and can't figure how to resolve this.
It appears to be a conflict between QT and a Microsoft update (but is this correct and if so, which one?). Is anyone doing anything about it?

Today when attempting to run Starry Night Astrophoto Suite 6 (astronomy program) it said that I needed Quicktime 6.0 or higher installed on my system. I tried running the program(Starry Night) because Secunia PSI (software inspector - checks to see if anything is out of date or a security risk) showed that my system was up to date when it had been showing for months that the java inside Starry Night was out of date. I already had the latest QT installed. This problem never happened before. I did a system restore back a couple of days and the problem remained.
I then uninstalled QT from my system and reinstalled it. The original problem remained. I then clicked on QT to try and run it and received the following message:
Please install Apple Application Support. I have never seen such a message. It appears something has happened to my system or some auto update went wrong and Quick Time is no longer working on my system.
Any help will be appreciated!

Hi,
I have not watched my videos (*.mov) since about one month. When I now try to watch my videos are now jerky (the images are skipped, but the sound is OK).
These videos were read fine the last time I watched them. Since last month I have not make any major modification to my laptop and QT/iTunes are up to date.
Do you have any idea what could cause this bug?

I have a problem with Quicktime PRO. As Apple advertises on their site the possibility to create true variable bitrate AACs with Quicktime PRO,i would like to know HOW because i can't seem to find that option. For instance I take an Apple Lossless file and i try to export it to MP4,in audio tab AAC variable bitrate is grey,i can't select it. If i try to make a quicktime movie file i can select variable bitrate mode BUT i can't select the quality Q1-127. Why on earth with Apple is so hard to use the true variable bitrate mode of their encoder i'll never know,on Mac it's way easier to do so with other programs. SO:Windows 7 RTM X64. If anyone has any suggestions i'd be grateful and please Apple fix this stuff because on your site you clearly state that with Quicktime PRO we'd be able to use the advanced encoder in order to get constant quality.

Hey guys I recently updated to the newest version of itunes, itunes 9, and as all you know it already comes with Quicktime, well after installing the new version and rebooting my PC now quicktime comes up with "error 46: could not load activex control" I've tried numerous suggestions I've found in google but none seem to work, I also found a "solution" here in the forums but it didn't work for me... I am running windows 7, 64bit, please if you can any other suggestion will be appreciated as of right now I can't really find more solutions other than asking apple for an update?!

Exporting renders a file, but not ...
I'm sure this probably has been posted somewhere, but I don't think I can sift through 10000 posts here. I'm exporting a .mov to h264 .mov and I keep getting random results. Sometimes it works fine, but other times it gives me a file that I can't open unless I choose Quick Time from a list of programs. So in other words, it's just a file and I can't do anything with it. It will play if I tell it to use quicktime, but I can't just click it and make it work. So, anyone have this problem?

Quicktime Proxy Settings ...
Hello,
I am trying to get Quicktime live streaming to work through my proxy server/firewall. I am allowing the correct traffic because if I turn off my proxy settings in IE, it works perfectly. However, if I put the IP of the streaming server in the 'bypass proxy server for these addresses' field of IE and turn the proxy server settings back on, it does not work. I have sniffed the traffic and found that Quicktime doesn't appear to be reading the 'bypass' addresses because it is trying to hit the firewall instead of the public IP of the streaming server.
Is there a way to get Quicktime to read the proxy bypass addresses? or bypass the proxy entirely for this purpose?

I recently upgraded my PC to 7.6.4, after doing this I am no able to view the video on movies only audio. I work for a school district and a lot of our teachers produce movies for instruction and with this lastest update the movies can not be viewed. Here is a link to a movie.

In addition, I CANNOT choose the "Audio" tab. As soon as I click it, Quicktime crashes. No, I need to set the player to "Safe Mode (GDI Only)" under the advanced tab, and get at the safe mode settings under Audio, but I can't do either. Can anyone help me with this?

Stopping Quicktime opening MP3 files in ...
When I updated to iTunes version 9, Quicktime was also updated to version 7.6.4
Now, whenever I click on a link to an mp3 file in IE8, it opens in a new browser in Quicktime, and, as I do not have and do not want Quicktime pro, I am unable to save the file. This is a real pain, as I cannot download the mp3 file. An example of this is the Snickers website, which uses Flash, so there is no option to click on the link and "save target as" and clicking on a download link just opens the file in a new IE8 browser in Quicktime. At present, MP3s are associated with iTunes, which is what I want. I have tried what has been suggested elsewhere and changed this association to Windows Media Player and then back to iTunes, but this has not helped. I have tried disabling the Quicktime IE 8 plugin, but this just opens a browser with a message telling me that the plug-in is disabled.

This has become a rather annoying problem, but first, let me start out with a little bit of fact.
1.NEARLY 3 YEARS HAS GONE BY SINCE 64 BIT VISTA HAS BEEN RELEASE TO THE PUBLIC.
2.A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF COMPUTERS BEING SOLD TO THE PUBLIC ARE 64 BIT MACHINES WITH VISTA PRE-INSTALLED
3.THERE IS STILL YET TO BE A FUNCTIONING INTEGRATED WEB BROWSER MEDIA PLAYER FOR ANY AND ALL WEB BROWSER APPLICATIONS FOR 64 BIT VISTA (Possibly Window 7 also).
The closest I have come to solving the issue of being able to open media files in the web browser is with Quicktime. I think it's rather archaic to download the file and open it manually, mostly because it's a feature that I am accustom to in some of my 32 bit machines. After all, these type of things aren't groundbreaking ideas at all; Plugins or media applications that function within the web browser. Instead what I get with my brand new very nice computer is a series of problems, each requiring their own little work around, and sometimes that do not have workarounds period. Allow me time to elaborate on one that Apple is causing me.
Please to explain why, when I open a media file link (mp3, mov, etc.), instead of a progress bar I get this:

Black bars where the progress bar should be? Sure, I can control the file still, by clicking where I think or I remember the buttons are. But WHY, WHY has this not been addressed? I do not know much about programing, nor do I know much about how x64 differs from x86. However, what I do know is that Vista x64 has been out for quite some time now, far more than enough time to let things like this slide. I have read the forums about this topic, and moderators claim it is a known issue. So, again, please to explain why this has not been addressed. It cannot be that big of a problem for a company like Apple. I might expect something like this issue coming from a third party community media player like VLC media player, but from Apple's Quicktime?
Apple, you have COMPLETELY dropped the ball on this. I'm not asking for Quicktime to control my stove, nor am I asking it to shave my face in the morning. I want Quicktime to play media, as it is intended to do, with simple controls, like Volume, Play/Pause and a progress bar. This problem has gone on long enough, Apple. You released a x64 ITunes recently, and I downloaded it expecting this issue to be resolved. But the problem persists. Even today.
I expected that with patience I would get an answer, OR MAYBE EVEN A WORKAROUND. Don't give me a "It's a known issue" bull. I want a solution, and I want it soon.

Itunes works fine...and quicktime runs fine. However, when i at trying to access websites that have quicktime audio content...the tools and content are not visible...just a black bar where the content should be.

Embedding Mp4 video in website to play ...
I am experimenting with the use of mp4 videos in websites and would like to try something like using an mp4 as a page background so I'm wondering if its possible to embed an mp4 file so that it loops (plays automatically which I think I already know how to do) and that it hides the play controls so that it just shows the video picture. I've been searching around a bit but haven't been able to figure if this is possible, any advice is greatly appreciated.

Encoding an mp4 file with alpha channel? ...
I read on one of Apple's pages about Quicktime that it does support an alpha channel for mp4 h.264.... the problem I am having is that despite hours of searching and trying out different software trials I have yet to find one software package that can convert a video format that has an alpha channel to an mp4, keeping the alpha channel in the final mp4 output. I am wondering if anyone knows of a solution for this, thanks.

QuickTime in Browser ...
In Firefox, when I play videos (say on Apple's website for trailers), the video will play, but the toolbar at the bottom (where you can pause, see the bar that shows where you are at in the video - blanking on the name for that at the moment) does not show up.
QuickTime does not work in work in IE. I am going to reinstall, but has anyone encountered this problem before?

Audio Sync ...
We're expierencing audio drift as an Mpeg1 file( browser embeded ) plays. The video and audio are sync'd at the beginning and further into the video they loose sync progresively. The issue seems to be browser agnostic and appeared with the 7.6.X versions. Any help or guidance would be great.

I get the error: "Quicktime not available. Please make sure Quicktime is properly installed."
This happens when I try to export a movie from Flash CS4. I've reinstalled CS4 and Quicktime, and it seems that Flash still cannot recognize Quicktime (Pro).
Quicktime opens just fine separately, any thoughts?

I am getting this message and it is driving me bonkers!
"quick time Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience".
Am running XP. Have uninstalled all Apple programs (QT, iTunes, update, bonjour, etc and in the order Apple recommends.) I re-installed QuickTime again.
Same Problem.
Went to the control panel and launched the quicktime control panel.
QuickTime Preferences comes up. If i choose the "files type" tab this error comes up in a window:
RUNDLL
An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QuickTime.cpl",QuickTime"
Clicking on this just closes the window.
Some one on another post mentioned something about another codex takinhg the place of an original. How do I find if this is causing it if only to shut down that avenue of conceren?
This has taken up SOOO much time I can't tell you and I can't use my iPhone or iTouch until I get it sorted.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Pixelation of video in QuickTime player ...
I've composed a short video .mov file in QuickTime Pro. It has pixelations throughout the vid. I've studied and studied and can't determine what settings where to fix this. I've checked my PC and seem to have sufficient RAM, etc.
Any step-by-step instructions on how to correct this would be appreciated. Checked the codex and seems to be set correctly.

why does apple.com refuse to ...
I've had Quicktime 7 installed for quite some time and use it, occasionally, when I go to apple.com/trailers/. So why, given all this, does the Quicktime video at apple.com/magicmouse/ say I need to install Quicktime 7? I don't want to have to reboot my computer (which I'm already fairly loathe to do) for the off chance that that might get Quicktime working (which I wouldn't count on it doing, anyway, since it already should be working).

Quicktime 7.6.4 error 43 saving file, ...
I have Windows XP on a Dell PC. I upgraded to Quicktime Pro, and all was working fine saving video files until I upgraded to 7.6.4. Now I get the following message; "We've run into errors while trying to save this movie. The file was not saved on disk. The error number was -43.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well as repair with no luck. What should I do to fix this? Can I go back to an earlier version, and if so, how?

Video/Audio of all MPEG1 out of sync ...
We already tried this on multiple Windows systems with MPEG1 from different encoders. When we jump near the end of a video the audio is always out of sync. The same videos play without sync problems in VLC or Windows Media Player. This seems to be a problem of current quicktime player versions. I am using 7.6.4 (518.35 / 1327.73).

I have yet been able to re-install quicktime. Could someone please tell me the location quicktime looks at installed version when the installer package starts. I have removed every single instance of quicktime, apple from the registry and am still getting the error that " A NEWER VERSION OF QUICKTIME IS ALREADY INSTALLED" This is so frustrating. PLEASE give me some advise other than throwing the laptop in the dumpster and starting with a new one.

Quick time not playing in page ie ...
I am a teacher and I've put a bunch of QT files in a repository for an online class. I create pages in an online platform called Angel and link to the Quick Time files. Angel works best (or only seems to work) with PC's and Internet Explorer. The pages I made were displaying the quick times wonderfully until one day when all the links started breaking and I'd get this message:
"Internet Explorer has blocked this site from using an ActiveX control in an unsafe manner. As a result, this page may not display correctly."
And it doesn't. I can't get quicktime to work / link anymore.
My pc uses xp, and IE 7 (going to 8 didn't help). Any ideas about how to get Quick time working?
I have a mac, but firefox and the platform (angel) aren't playing well together either?

annoying error ...
when i try to open itunes i get a pop-up that says "the application cannot be opened. the required folder cannot be found." even though i have the AppData folder on my computer. i have tried to uninstall and re-install quicktime and itunes but when i do i get a pop-up that says " could not access network location %APPDATA%\".
is there anything i can do to fix this?

Quicktime Plugin problem - stuck in QT 5 ...
I'm an online teacher. My quicktime plugin won't update past QT5. I think this is why QT no longer plays in my course pages. I update to QT 7, and when I go to the course homepage, it continues to say QT5. I have deleted the browser (IE7) and reinstalled (IE8). I have deleted QT and reinstalled.
I prefer working on my mac, but firefox suddenly started causing problems with my course pages, so I'm stuck using my PC and IE and QT plugins.
Has anyone had a problem getting a plugin to update?
Ive gone into manage add-ons, and it's showing QT 7. The College online class platform is only showing QT 5.

1080 30p Quicktime playback not smooth ...
Like an increasing number of people, Videography Lab has bought into the use of DSLR and high end digital cameras to shoot 1080 at 30 frames per second. We shot test footage with a Canon SX1 IS that renders it's video files in Quicktime. Playback directly from camera via HDMI cable to a SONY Bravio 1080p monitor was smooth as silk.
We copied the test file to an ASUS G71GX Notebook with Intel Core Quad Q9000 @ 2.00GHz, 6GB RAM, NVIDIA GeoForce GTX 260M with 1GB video memory driving a 1920x1400 pixel display and two 500GB 7200rpm drives = a Terrabyte of storage with very few programs installed.
We configured the Windows Vista Home 64 bit system to "Maximize Performance". Then we opened Quicktime Version 7.6.4 Professional to play the test video which contained slow pans and zooms on a bright sunny day. We selected "Full Screen" view and took a critical look. The pictures and sound are stunningly beautiful but there is a slight skipping or lack of smoothness that indicates this system is not able to playback 1080 30p faithfully.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve smooth playback?

Regisration Code problem ...
I updated Quicktime to version 7 and then purchased the upgrade to Pro. I copy and paste the regisration code into the correct place and it is still telling me that it is invalid. I double checked and I did purchase the Pro upgrade for Windows. How do I fix the problem since Apple won't give me a contact phone number to actually speak to someone since I am not using MAC hardware?

I wrote a windows program to show sports scores, and during updates show an advertisement. My program downloads all the .mov files (ads) to the clients computer and holds them locally to save bandwidth. During a score update, the system calls a web page that is supposed to open the local movie file.
I've tried sending an address parameter of "File:///c:/the/movie/path/movie.mov" but no go. I tried several variations.
Basically this:

"$moviePath", "$embedWidth", "$embedHeight", "",
"autoplay","true"
);
Works fine if I give it a http:// url, but it refuses to load my local file.
