Quicktime Plugin problem - stuck in QT 5 ...

I'm an online teacher. My quicktime plugin won't update past QT5. I think this is why QT no longer plays in my course pages. I update to QT 7, and when I go to the course homepage, it continues to say QT5. I have deleted the browser (IE7) and reinstalled (IE8). I have deleted QT and reinstalled.

I prefer working on my mac, but firefox suddenly started causing problems with my course pages, so I'm stuck using my PC and IE and QT plugins.

Has anyone had a problem getting a plugin to update?

Ive gone into manage add-ons, and it's showing QT 7. The College online class platform is only showing QT 5.

Help?
