why does apple.com refuse to ...

I've had Quicktime 7 installed for quite some time and use it, occasionally, when I go to apple.com/trailers/. So why, given all this, does the Quicktime video at apple.com/magicmouse/ say I need to install Quicktime 7? I don't want to have to reboot my computer (which I'm already fairly loathe to do) for the off chance that that might get Quicktime working (which I wouldn't count on it doing, anyway, since it already should be working).
